{The Glam Series} New Beauty Additions, I love.

Not sure where the sunshine and chirping birds went, but it's cold here in Oklahoma. Not cool mother nature. I'm sick of the back and forth, air-heat-air-heat.

First of all- if you haven't already, head over to Maegen's blog and check out our 5 minute face collaboration. I adore this girl and had so much fun doing this collab. She came up with the idea and I instantly loved it, because it was a challenge for me. She explains why!

This week for The Glam Series, we're sharing newer additions that have made their way into our beauty collection. Mine are all here to STAY.

one China Glaze in Strawberry Fields. A darker pink with a little gold shimmer, love.

two Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet liner (from April 2014 Ipsy bag) Super soft, great pigment, and it lasts! Triple win.

three Covergirl Jumbo Gloss Balm in Berry Twist. Can't get enough, perfect simple pop of pink & moisturizing formula.

four L'Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara. L'Oreal has always been my favorite drugstore mascara brand, this one doesn't disappoint.

five Benefit Gimme Brow, a new must have. Delivers great brows, quick.

I haven't been on a lot of beauty hauls lately, gotta save that moolah for our big move! But, you know this girl still picks up little things here and there. Because let's get real here, if not I'll suffer withdraws...

What is something you've bought recently that is a keeper?

I Need Hair HELP!

Alright girls, I am putting myself out there and cringing as I do it…

This is how you always see my hair.

What you don't know, there is a MAJOR process that goes in having normal looking hair, and it sucks bad. I have very thick, frizzy and curly hair. Not pretty curly, unruly curly.

Here is my hair routine in short-

-I only wash it 2-3 times a week tops
-Leave in towel for about an hour, then wear in clip for at least an hour or more before I even attempt to blow dry it.
-Spend forever blow drying it while trying to brush straight.
-Sleep on it, a must.
-Flat iron it in the morning. Even if I want to curl it with a curling iron, it has to be flat ironed first.
-Usually wear in a pony tail because I go through all of the work then it just grows like a chia pet with wind or humidity.

My hair is pretty and shiny, after I do a crap ton of work to it.

When I talk to people about my hair, I paint a mental picture for them. They never believe me. Unless you see it with your own eyes, you'd think I was exaggerating or lying. I tell them my hair is like Gene Simmons or the infamous Monica hair on vaca after humidity from Friends.

Like I said, they usually don't believe me. So, last week I snapped a pic to show my friend Jen. So she could see, I'm really not exaggerating. Then, for some insane reason I decided I should blog about it and ask for help.

Here we go, my hair after a blow dry, in all it's fluffiness…. (I don't feel the picture even truly captures it!)

I can't believe I just did that! I have tried everything under the sun, and spent a ridiculous amount of money on product. The ONLY thing that has ever helped me is a Brazilian Blowout, my hair was completely different afterward in a fabulous way. But, they cost $300+ and that is hard to continually spend on your hair! Certain products do help with detangling and making it soft or shiny, but nothing helps with relaxing it or making it stay/hold after I've worked on it. I'm so sick of all the work and fighting it.

Please tell me your life changing secrets ladies!!

I'm guest posting for Becky with Made in the Shade today while she's soaking up the Florida sun, make sure to go check out her blog for my spring trends on a budget ideas.

{Monthly Favorites} April 2014

Happy Monday loves, yup I'm that person that says happy Monday and people hate.

We had a great weekend with friends and family and the Color Run went great! I will be sharing pictures and details later on this week in my Five on Friday post.

It's time to share my April faves with you, and wow I'm actually getting it up before the next month this time… This month I have a mix of new and rediscovered products.

Crest Be Dynamic toothpaste- we've tried and liked the Lime Spearmint Zest and Vanilla Mint Sparkle. There is also a Mint Chocolate one, I don't think we'll be trying that one though.

NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair- These are amazing, great pigment and not sticky. When I want just a little color, this has been my go to.

L'Oreal Infallible Shadows- I own and love the shades Iced Latte, Amber Rush and Pink Sapphire. I kind of forgot about them for a while, but they are so pretty and stay put! I've been reaching for them a lot lately.

Sally Hansen The Now Brow Perfect Arch Brow Kit- I bought this on a whim and I'm not sure how or why I've lived without it. Serious game changer!

Save the Blowdry Shower Cap- Ok ladies, who is with me on the "dry shampoo, stretch it as long as you possibly can" thing with our hair?? Wait until you read my hair post tomorrow, you'll definitely understand why I do this! I have to wear a shower cap, any ounce of humidity ruins my hair. The standard shower caps are ok, but I always manage to end up with wet hair on my neck area and it drives me insane. This one is amazing! You have to check them out if you stretch your hair like me and have to wear a cap. Here is why I will never be without mine and love it-

-Tight enough to keep everything OUT, but comfortable.
-Great quality, not cheap feeling like most.
-Soft micro towel material inside.
-You can also turn it inside out and use it to cover your hair when wearing a mask or hair treatment.

What is something YOU have been loving this month?

*I was provided a Save the Blowdry shower cap last year, it's now available in the US and I could not wait to share. It's a great product for me and my needs!

{Thankful Thursday} 4/24/14

Good morning! I'm laying here snuggled up in my warm bed trying to wake up for the day. It looks like it's going to be a little stormy here in Oklahoma today, makes me wish I could just stay put right here all day.

Sharing a few things with you from my week that I've been thankful for. Big or small, it's good to find something from each day that you're thankful for. I hope that you'll join us!

Thankful Thursday

My 2 loves. They make me the happiest. After dinner snuggles, Pixie was diggin' it.

Easter Breakfast. I made us a delicious breakfast of egg whites, spinach and chicken sausage with a side of toast with cinnamon cream cheese and blueberries. We definitely enjoyed it.

Time with my little brother. We spent Saturday with Christian, it was so good to see him and my family. Love that boy.

YOU ALL. After kind of a rough weekend, I shared some of my feelings about being in a funk on Easter and the latest news regarding Christian. I'm beyond thankful for each of your sweet comments and emails that I received. I was so touched, you made me feel a millions times better. I love and appreciate you all!

My grilling hubby. He made us some delicious chicken and I made us some pasta and salad. Warm weather and grilling makes me so happy!

Evening walks + family selfies. We don't get to spend a lot of time together during the week due to Dustin's work schedule. So when we do, I cherish it. The weather was gorgeous Tuesday so we got out for a neighborhood walk. Pixie is refusing to look at the camera…. brat.

Healthy snack creations. If you follow me on IG you saw this, but man was it good! I spread some chocolate PB2 on a chocolate rice cake then topped it with banana. It was delicious and very satisfying.

Thanks for stopping by!

{The Glam Series} Summer Favorites

Spring just started but before you know it, summer will be here. Plus beach vacations have already started for a lot of us!

For this week's Glam Series, we're talking all about our summer favorites. I'm ready for the beach, how about you ladies?

(1) Bronzer, a no brainer. This e.l.f bronzer in Golden Bronzer is a fave of mine. It's a perfect all over glow, and it's only $3. You hear me, $3

(2) Urban Decay setting spray. It's one of my must have products every single day, but especially in the summer. Keeps that face in place!

(3) Hot, and I mean hot, pink polish. China Glaze Pool Party is a great pick. The brighter the better to me in the summer.

(4) Sunscreen is an obvious, but a sunburn is inevitable for me. It's gonna happen. Dustin and I already had to bust this stuff out after each getting burnt last weekend. Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun Lotion is a drink for your sunburn that smells like a fruity drink straight from Cancun. Love it!

(5) I always want chapstick or something on my lips, I want hydration but I want color too. Meet Cover Girl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm. Berry Twist is a new fave, the perfect fuschia shade. These things rock!

Tell me YOUR summer favorite?

I didn't have the greatest weekend, not going to lie. Friday night there were some new updates on the news regarding my little brothers accident. It's all stuff we've heard all along, but to hear it all being confirmed as facts now and to read statements in black and white, it was like a whole new blow.

Here is the news story, regarding arrests being made and warrants issued-

Of course I want justice to be served. These people should not be able to go on and live their lives like nothing happened after they made such stupid mistakes and choices. Like they did nothing wrong. That being said though, it doesn't make Christian better.

The accident happened on Sept 1st, so for 7+ months my family has lived in a nightmare. Multiple times we almost lost him. We try our best to stay as positive as we can. We thank God everyday for keeping him with us and for healing him. He has made so many improvements, we are so thankful for that. We are also human though, so of course we have bad days.

I struggled this weekend. We went to see him Saturday and spent the day there with my family. After that, I just let myself slip into a funk. My mom spends every single day getting ready and heading to the nursing home to take care of his every need. My dad sleeps there every single night. Saturday, Christian should have been attending his first prom. Instead he sits in a nursing home where he can't walk, eat or drink. The people who didn't do what they were supposed to do when he got hurt, they get to go on and live their lives.

Easter came and I didn't want to do anything. I wanted to go to church then go to my grandmas and celebrate with my family, eating too much food and sweets in our Sunday best. But we can't do that right now, and because of that I just wanted to sit home all day.

I let myself get in these funks, but I thank God I am quickly able to snap out of it. God kept Christian with us for a reason. He isn't finished on this earth. The amount of people my little brother has touched is amazing. He is the absolute strongest and sweetest person I know. There are so many AMAZING people in this world, and our family wouldn't get by without the words of encouragement the 6,800+ followers  on Facebook offer us daily. It truly blows us away!

Saturday night, this precious girl got ready for her senior prom then last minute skipped it to come see Christian. She felt that was where she wanted to be instead. Erin, you are one special special girl. One of those people that blow us away.

This coming Saturday there is a 5k run taking place in my parents town, Miracle for Mayberry. How amazing is this!? I won't be there, but only because before it was planned I already had a team put together for the Color Run in Tulsa that same day. Our team name is Colors for Mayberry! Can't wait to share all of this with Christian and show him pictures.

Our family is on this journey for a reason. As we pass all of these holidays and occasions I keep telling myself, next Christmas will be different, we'll all be together like old times. Next years prom will be something absolutely amazing for Christian. He'll have so many dates! Next year, we will have a massive celebration for Easter. Christian's 18th birthday will be a party that will go down in the books.

So as we continue on this journey, I'm asking for a few specific prayer requests.

1- Continued healing for Christian. He's made huge improvements but he really needs an intense brain injury specific rehab facility. His rehab is crucial and doors just continue to slam in our face.

2- Strength for our family, especially my parents.

3- For the other people involved.

Thank you for all your continued thoughts and prayers <3

Five on Friday

Morning, who else is off work today? Even though I'm off, I'm still up bright and early. I'm heading to the gym in a few, then off to Target to grocery shop then back home for a long day of yard work with Dustin. Our yard needs some TLC! Should be a beautiful day in Oklahoma today.

I'm linking up today with:

Jennie for Friday Favorites

I mentioned last weekend we were heading to KS for my sister in laws baby shower, we had such a wonderful time with all of our family. That baby is going to be so loved! Can't wait to see if it will be a boy or a girl, the votes for girl are definitely outweighing the boy votes… We'll see next month!

My aunt & uncle were in Oklahoma from Arizona, it was so awesome to spend time with them. They spent time with my mom, grandma and little brother. This was the first time they'd been to Oklahoma since Christians accident, I know they loved seeing him. They came and spent a night with Dustin & I. I was able to enjoy a lunch with them before they left too. We can't wait to see them again!

I bought a tripod for my Canon last weekend. Now that I can actually use my camera thanks to Mamarazzi, I'm eager to get busy on more beauty tutorials and looks!

My new blog design! I am really loving my new design, and I have been so happy with the designer who is responsible for it. Everything was so easy, smooth and fast! It was all approved & installed within a week. All I'm going to say is, what a breath of fresh air for me. You should check her out here, if you're interested in a change anytime soon I'd definitely recommend her.

My new laptop case came in, and I'm pretty much in love with it. I'm so glad I finally bought it, the color is exactly what I was wanting. I'd looked at some on and off, not sure why I hadn't bought one because they are so cheap. Here is what I got if you're interested in one, it was only $12.99!

Have a wonderful weekend, and happy Easter!!

What are your Easter plans?

{Thankful Thursday} 4/17/14

It's Thursday, but it's actually my Friday. Pretty sure today is a going to be a good day. Hooray for holidays.

Thank you for stopping by and joining us for this weeks Thankful Thursday link up.

I've had an exciting week, I had to split it up though between today and tomorrows Five on Friday post. So make sure you come back tomorrow! Here are some things I've been thankful for this week.

My best friend. We traveled to KS last weekend, Dustin and I spent most of the weekend in the car. We had a good time though. You can read our Car Ride Q&A here. I'm just beyond thankful for my sweet hubby & best friend.

Spangles. We don't dare pass through Wichita without stopping at Spangles. One of our favorite places for a burger and fries. Spangles needs to come to Oklahoma, or better yet Florida! Yes, I'm thankful for a good burger & fries…

Movie + snuggles with Collin & Emma. Monday night I got to hang out and watch Collin & Emma while Kristal & Robert went out for a bit. We watched Frozen and snuggled on the couch, I was in heaven. They are THE sweetest. Emma kept saying "Mia… I love you". Seriously, I melted every time.

Bootcamp. Yup, I'm thankful for this too! I haven't been able to hit the gym as much lately because we've been busy and I miss it. I was thankful to be back this week. I feel my best when I'm working out!

PB&J's for dinner. Some nights you just don't want to cook. I was thankful for a relaxing night of PB&J's, a tall glass of milk and Melissa & Joey with my hubby on the couch. It was relaxing and perfect. Not sure how this happened, but I opted for Cheetos and he grabbed a banana. Normally, it would have been the opposite, what the heck.

I hope you all had a great week with lots to be thankful for. See you tomorrow for the rest of the highlights from my week!
