Happy Friday!

Good morning and happy Friday loves. I'm very excited the weekend is here, I have some fun plans this weekend. A long time ago we bought tickets to see Aziz Ansari with our friends, so tomorrow night we get to enjoy a dinner and comedy date night. I have some more fun plans for tomorrow, BUT I won't be sharing those until next week ;) I know, teaser....

However, I'm not excited about the fact that I have to leave bright and early this morning to go get an estimate and photos to fix my car. On my way to work yesterday, a guy in front of me at a stop sign backed up to get out of the way of a bus that was turning. All fine and dandy, except for the fact that he didn't see me back there! Crunch. It's very minimal damage though and everything is going smooth so far, knock on wood! Could be worse for sure.

Anyway, linking up on this lovely but COLD Friday with Lauren Elizabeth for High Five for Friday and A. Liz Adventures and her crew for Five on Friday.

{one} I finished the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. It was great, I felt amazing and I will do it again for sure one day. You can read my thoughts here. I was happy to be able to eat a piece of chocolate, not going to lie.

{two} Ok, this is going to sound nuts. I bought my first avocado, ever. I know, I know. I have never been a fan of avocado or guacamole but I am trying to keep trying things, now that I am older to give them another try. Well, I recently became obsessed with guacamole, like craving it. So I bought our first avocado and my sweet hubby made us some DELICIOUS guacamole. I'm going to be making this a weekly occurrence I can already tell.

{three} I told you in yesterdays Thankful Thursday that we had family in last weekend. My husbands family lives in KS. Our attempts lately to make it up there have failed, so they came to see us. It was such a good weekend. My fave part? Us girls sat at our kitchen table for over an hour doing each others makeup. Our goal was to get highlighting and contouring down. I am not 100% sure we achieved that goal, but we sure had fun playing. We had wine, brownies and ice cream and make up strung all over that table. I just LOVE those girls.

{four} Kristal and I got registered for the next Mamarazzi class. We missed the one in January and they are only teaching 3 this year, so we were very glad to get signed up for the April one. It's a 3 hour class in our area taught by Jenny Collier and Ashley Thompson. They teach you how to really use your big fancy camera. Kristal and I both have Canon Rebels. While we can take a picture, we want to really know our cameras inside and out and get the most out of them. Can't wait to learn!

{five} Bad blogger, right here. I forgot to take a picture, but Tuesday night I had dinner with my sweet friend Lesa. We used to work together and I don't get to see her often enough. We had a great dinner date at Olive Garden and we were able to catch up on life. Thanks for the dinner date Lesa!

Some randomness-

*I had to add word verification on my comment settings. Boo. I really hate adding extra steps, but my email was seriously blowing up with spam comments. #annoying

*Make sure you check out our Thankful Thursday link up, we would love to have you join in on sharing everything you are thankful for during your week!

*Maegen over at The Modern Tulip opened up an online boutique this week. So excited for her and her new journey, she's seriously the sweetest. You should go check her out!

*Cassie with True Agape is hosting a fun Valentines giveaway, make sure you go enter for it.

We have a lot of static going on here in Oklahoma- This is what happens after Pixie rolls around the floor...

Whew, lots of randoms I snuck in there huh?! Happy weekend, hope you have a great one!

I have a blog button now :) Over on my sidebar -->

Thankful Thursday 1/30/14

Good morning loves and welcome back to Thankful Thursday! I'm excited to be linking up with my lovely co hosts today- make sure to check out The Strong FamilyKatie Elizabeth and Carly Blogs Here.

This last weekend, we had family in and it was perfect. I am blessed with some pretty amazing in-laws. I spent the day with these 2 and it was exactly what I needed!

I wasn't sure about midi rings at first, but now I am loving them. I bought a cute bow one, I'm sold.

My heart was full with a house full of family, this really made me smile. Pixie missed her uncle Jesse.

I got a sweet gift from my sister in law, Emily. This sign kind of sums me up… I love it.

Holy cold right?! We had a few very cold days recently, but nothing like some are dealing with out east. I have 2 little heaters in my office and my boss turns them on for me when he gets to work every day. I appreciate that so much. My office is so toasty by the time I get to work.

Thank you for stopping by- I hope that you'll link up too!

{My Thoughts} Advocare 24 Day Challenge

We did it, we completed the Advocare 24 day challenge! Dustin and I started on Wednesday Jan 1 and finished Friday Jan 24. I ended up not taking any before & after photos, reasons below. I definitely enjoyed the program and products!
This was my first time actually participating in a challenge, but not my first time taking/using Advocare. My best friend is a distributor, so I'm very familiar with it. I have done the cleanse once before and drink Spark, so half of it wasn't anything new to me.

Why I decided to do it? After my brothers accident and the holidays, life had just been hectic. We got off track a little as far as our food and exercise habits. We wanted motivation and something to really jump start the new year, getting back on track. Things had kind of calmed down and we were at a place where we could get back in the gym 3 days a week. I really wanted to do the cleanse, to really cleanse out the toxins and crap from the last few months. I also thought it'd be nice to have a little of that extra energy that everyone always talks about while doing the challenge. I did not want to lose any weight though. I have maintained my weight for the last year or so and I am happy with that and feel my body is exactly where it should be weight-wise. I am now just maintaining and toning myself, trying to stay healthy and fit.

How does it work? There are 2 parts to it. The first 10 days are the cleanse phase. This includes probiotic and herbal cleanse pill packets you take in the AM & PM as well as a fiber cleanse you drink several of the mornings. You drink Spark before breakfast then eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and an AM & PM snack each day. Days 11-24 is the Max Phase. The only thing that really changes is the pills you switch to and you drink a meal replacement shake for breakfast each day. This is where your energy really kicks in!

What did I eat? I did this challenge about 95%. You can see in the food suggestions below what it suggests you eat while on the challenge. Most people completely cut out sugar, coffee, dairy, carbs, etc. It suggests you limit or avoid. I did cut out sugar, except for that Olive Garden chocolate mint I popped in my mouth without event thinking! There were about 3 days I replaced my Spark with a cup of coffee, it was cold and I wanted it... Carbs- I did eat a few low carb tortillas at lunch a few times. Other than that, we ate a whole lot of fruits, veggies, protein shakes and chicken.

My workout routine? Man it feels good to be back at the gym! The gym makes me happy and it's a great stress reliever for me. We go to the gym Monday and Wednesday nights after work, then early Saturday morning. On Monday and Saturday I do an hour bootcamp class. On Wednesday I try to go to the gym early and do a couple miles on the elliptical or treadmill, then I do an hour bootcamp class. Sometimes I run on my treadmill at home in between gym days, but that's pretty rare.

How I felt during the challenge?  Amazing. I loved all the energy I had while on it. The combination of clean eating and the supplements you are on truly make you feel awesome.  I got up almost an hour earlier each day than usual, drank my Spark and took my pills for the morning and I was ready to go!

Final thoughts? I loved doing this challenge, I really did. I felt amazing and it was exactly what I needed. The energy and motivation were exactly what I was looking for. I am thinking about switching to the MNS packets for good, as my daily vitamins. I have bought canisters of Spark for over a year and will continue to, I love it before I workout. Dustin did it as well, he did end up losing 10 lbs, the 10 lbs he'd put on over the last few months. He dropped them almost instantly, MEN.

Obviously I enjoyed it and pretty much everything I talked about above are my "pros".

Cons
-It's pricey, so you definitely have to decide if it's worth it to you. I think it's absolutely worth it.

-There are a lot of pills. Not really a con to me simply because I am very used to taking a couple hand fulls of vitamins/supplements each day. If you are one of those people who has a hard time with pills, you may hate that part of it.

-The fiber drink. Again, doesn't bother me so much but Dustin hated it. Most people do, I'm a weird-o.

My review is a little different due to the fact that I wasn't trying to lose weight and I did it about 90-95% food-wise. I did not lose any weight, like I said I believe my body is exactly where it should be in terms of weight on the scale. I can definitely tell a difference though, everything fits me better now than it did before. I'm sure I lost a few inches and gained a little muscle, I just didn't measure. I just feel better ALL the way around. This will be something I can see doing again for sure.

Have you ever tried the 24DC? Something you may try someday?

{Beauty Products} Worth the Splurge!

Good morning, ready for some makeup talk? I always am!

I have tried a lot of products. I may or may not have a problem love for makeup. Can ya tell, have you seen my makeup collection post? I have a lot of favorite products that I talk about often. Some of them are cheap and some a little more expensive. It's pretty even for me between drugstore and high end loves.

I compiled a little list of products that I feel are very much worth the splurge! Meaning I've tried several brands and types of similar products, and nothing compare to these in my opinion. I will continue to spend the money and repurchase these.
1) Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter from The Balm. I received a sample of this back when I was subscribed to Birchbox. I have never found a highlight that even close to compared! This stuff is gorgeous!

2) Benefit POREfessional face primer. I have big pores, and I hate it. I have no idea what kind of freak magic potion they put in this, but seriously, your pores shrink in front of your eyes. That's the main reason I love it, but it also creates a soft silky base for your makeup and helps to keep it in place too!

3) I finally broke down and bought the Mac Pro Longwear concealer a few months ago after seeing every YouTube guru rave about it. So glad I did, it's perfection. It blends beautifully and stays there, doesn't crease like most under eye concealers. My only complaint, the bottle. It's too small and you also have to be careful when you pump it out. It can easily give you too much, and I sure as heck don't want to waste it!

4) Urban Decay Setting Sprays. At the end of the day, my makeup looks exactly the same as right after I put it on. Ask my friends, they'll tell ya. I give credit to this baby. I spray it all over my face after I've applied my base, powder and blush. I've tried others and I don't like the formulas or packaging. This one is a perfect fine mist, it's by far the best!

5) The Sigma F80 Flat Kabuki Brush. I will never be without this brush, I don't know what else to say besides go buy it, now. Well, after you finish reading my blog of course... It truly makes your make up look flawless and blends perfect. The good thing about the brush is, I don't have to keep repurchasing it, and it's really not that expensive. I've had it for over a year and wash it often, it's in perfect shape.

If you want to try something but aren't sure what, the setting spray and the brush are my 2 faves for sure!

Do you have a favorite splurge item? Are any of these your faves too?

{H54F} Thank God the Weekend is Here!

I want to start by saying thank you for all of your sweet words yesterday commenting on my post. You all know how to lift a girl up and bring a smile to her face :)

I don't know about you, but I sure am so glad to see the weekend. It was only a 4 day week for us this week, but man, it was long and rough.

I'm welcoming this weekend with open arms, we have Kansas family coming in that we could not be more excited to see. Looking forward to a weekend hanging out with loved ones!

Linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for a little H54F and A. Liz Adventures and her girls for Five on Friday.

{one} I made a delicious shake that seriously made my day, twice. Chocolate protein powder + banana + a scoop of honey PB = holy yum.

{two} A late night tea date with my love- Chai for him, sugar cookie sleigh ride for me.

{three} We got our first Nature Box shipment. We haven't tried anything yet, but we will soon and I will let you know what I think! It all looks yummy…

{four} I made a delicious new chicken recipe, it's a keeper! I got the idea from this recipe I pinned, Baked Pesto Stuffed Chicken. I mixed pesto and a couple laughing cow cheese triangles for the mixture inside the chicken and just put a little coating on the outside. It was so good, we had roasted sweet potatoes with it. I will definitely be making it again!

{five} I get to see Katy Perry again in Oct! Her concerts are so FUN! Can I just say how buying tickets these days is getting too stressful for me... All the presales, then trying forever just to get any tickets with no luck, then you finally get an option for some and have like 2 seconds to jump, then lose them, then try again for another 20 minutes. UGH.

There was my week in a nutshell. Thanks for stopping by!

What are your weekend plans?

Thankful Thursday 1/23/14

Good morning and welcome back for another Thankful Thursday. This week is going to be a little different for me, and might be a little lengthy…

We have had a rough week with my little brother. Last weekend we were supposed to leave for Kansas to visit Dustin's family. Friday my mom called me crying saying I needed to get to the hospital. Christian started having seizures and his heart rate was up in the 180's. They called rapid response, meaning the room was FULL of doctors and nurses. Christian was not responding.

We found out the next morning that they had almost lost him, nothing they were doing was helping or stopping the seizures. It was a close call for sure.

They think it was a combination of some swelling in his brain and the toxicity of the strong antibiotic he'd been on since the shunt removal to treat the infection he had. They finally got him stable and quickly put an external drain in his head to drain and fluid creating pressure. He also had to be put on a ventilator. He is doing better now and off the ventilator. It was a step backwards, but that is ok. We know who is in charge here!

All of this really got me thinking, how do people go through stuff like this who don't have relationships with God and their faith to lean on. Which then got me thinking about the past few years and the people God has placed in my life and the path he has directed me on, how everything and everyone serve such a great purpose.

About 2 and a half years ago, my sweet friend Kristal sent me an email that forever changed my life. I even remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I read it. She asked me about my relationship with Jesus. At first, I didn't know how to answer. I was raised going to church, but it was never a good experience, for a lot of reasons. We never had a home church or church family and it was just never pleasant. It turned me off completely. When I moved out and on my own, I just wanted no part of it. I always believed in Jesus and loved him, but had no relationship whats so ever and sure as heck didn't want to go to church. I know, sounds weird. After Kristal wrote me this email, she invited me over and we had a discussion about it all. And ate muffins :)

The rest is history. A short version-

My dear friend Jen went through a rough time with her family. This led them to move away to Edmond, OK. While there, they started going to a church, LifeChurch.tv. After moving back here, they started attending the campus that we had here in Owasso. Dustin and I then started attending. I have never fallen in love with a church before, but I love LifeChurch dearly. I look so forward to it each week. It's brought so much joy to my life, given me a relationship with Jesus that I never knew was possible and gave me new friends in our community. Our other best friends, Andrew & Angela, started attending LifeChurch soon after we did.

Kristal ended up asking me if I wanted to start having a weekly bible study. I said yes, and here we are almost 2 years later. We have grown our little LifeGroup to a group of 4 and we meet every Thursday night to talk about Jesus and how our week has been.

I was baptized in October of 2012, an awesome experience.

It's truly amazing to me to look back at just the last few years and see how everything has unfolded for us. Friends we've made and where we've been led. It's all a path that was no accident. I am 100% sure, I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

The last 4+ months have kind of been like a nightmare. Long, hard, emotional and stressful. It's not over yet, Christian still has a long way to go. I am so thankful to have strong, positive and uplifting family and friends that believe in and have the same faith in Jesus during this time. God has given us a platform and is guiding us in ways and doing things with our family that is mind blowing to us. Our family remains positive throughout everything, we trust in God. Of course, it's hard and we have our moments, we wouldn't be normal if we didn't.

My mom sat down for an interview this week. I don't know if you've ever experienced anything like this, but sitting on my couch watching my mom and seeing pics of my little brother on the 10 o'clock news was so surreal. I told myself I probably shouldn't read comments on the online stories, but I did. I let them get to me too. Then finally at the end of the day I felt peace. There are over 4,600 people following Christian's story and recovery on the Facebook page, supporting our family with words of encouragement and prayer. Way bigger than the 10 or so people who wanted to speak negative comments behind their computer screens. And seriously, they were posting about how my family was smiling in the pictures! How could we be smiling in a time like this?

Well, I can give you 3 reasons. #1, he is still alive. #2, we try to only remain positive and upbeat around him. Speaking only life into him! And #3, the specific picture the anchor used and these people were referring to, was taken at the moment Christian was set into a chair for the first time since the accident. It was about a month in. It was an exciting moment for our family! I guess if the only negative thing these people had to say was that my family was being too positive in their eyes, that's really not so bad...

If you would like to see the story, you can see it here. I think they did a good job putting the story together.

Like I said, a different post for me today but this is what is on my heart this week.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for all your continued prayers and support. It means the world to us!

Being Happy in 2014 and My Goals.

Morning loves! Starting 2014 has us all thinking about our resolutions for the new year, setting goals of all the things we want to accomplish. Myself included- I'm going to share them with you below. I do have a small list of goals I want to complete this year, but really I just want to be happy.
Now, don't take that the wrong way. I LOVE doing things for other people, this has nothing to do with that. I'm not saying do things only for you and forget others, no way. Doing for others, compassion and displaying our love for Jesus is something I love and want to do daily, that's a whole other post. I just mean think of 1 or 2 things that make YOU happy and work to make them happen! Little things that you can do in your day to day life. Carve out that time and take it.

Also, this may mean that you have to start saying no to some things. And guess what, that's ok! I read this post recently and I have to say I agree. You do not have to say yes to everything or everyone, there are no rules and this is your life. Do what you want to do... If you're saying yes to someone simply because you feel guilty even though it may take time away from things you love, you should probably say no.

Here are a few little things that genuinely make me happy- Reading my devotional each morning, working out, watching my guilty pleasure shows at the end of a long day (Real Housewives), having alone time with my husband, a bubble bath, makeup shopping, concerts, time with friends, a long hot shower, blogging.

Now I realize I do not have kids, so it's easier for me to do these things than it might be for others. I am a firm believer though that once you have kids, that doesn't mean mommy and daddy need to be neglected. Think about it, if you aren't happy are you being the best parent you can be to your children? Probably not. Am I saying lock your kids in a closet and do what makes YOU happy, heck no! I'm saying just make a little time for you you though, you need it.

Now, onto some of my goals for this year-
-Read 5 books (I am not a reader)
-Buy a camera and take a photography class (Already bought the camera, now I just need to sign up for the class)
-Run 2 5k's this year (I've never ran one; I'm now signed up for The Color Run and Warrior Dash)
-Go on a hike/nature trail somewhere near Oklahoma with Dustin
-Visit The Pink Pistol

Also- Our pastor is doing a sermon right now called Small Things Big Difference. He is teaching on how small changes in your day to day life or thoughts can make huge impacts on you and even others in your life. So far, he has suggested to pick a word, verse and thought focus to focus on this year. You will find what you are looking for when you really focus your thoughts on it. I wanted to share what I have decided to focus on for 2014.

Seek is my word.

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with your whole heart" Jeremiah 29:13 is my verse. This verse has been very special to me for about a year and a half now.

"Lord, help me seek you" is my thought focus for this year. Well more than this year, but I'm really focusing on it right now.

Feel free to join in on this if you feel you want to pick something to direct your 2014 towards.

I'm looking forward to 2014, for multiple reasons. I believe we are going to watch my baby brother make a complete healing!

What is a 2014 goal of yours?

Ipsy Bag: Jan 2014

How many of you have signed up for Ipsy? One of my favorite times during each month is pulling that hot pink bubble mailer out of the mailbox. Such a fun surprise each month! Below is what I received for the month of January-

Can I just start off by saying how excited I was when I saw Benefit POREfessional?! This is one of my fave products and I just so happen to need more. Score Ipsy!

Absolute! Makeup Cleansing Tissues- (10 wipes) Yes please, I use makeup wipes often and love that these are travel size.

Balm Me Up Organic Sweet Cocoa & Tangy Body Balm- (Deluxe sample) I have used this a few times on my super dry hands at night, so far loving it. I love the sweet smell too!

Yaby Liquid Foundation- (Not sure if it's deluxe sample or full size) I was happy to see a color I can actually use! I mixed a little with my Covergirl 3in1 foundation and no complaints.

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm- (Full size) This stuff is clear, and more like a gloss but I love it! I have been putting some on before bed, very hydrating. Might be a new fave actually.

Benefit The POREfessional- (Deluxe sample) Again, one of my all time fave products. I've talked about it here and here. I will be thrilled if Benefit starts popping up more and more in the Ipsy bags, one of my fave high end brands for sure!

I always love what I receive in my bag each month. It's only $10 and the concept is to introduce you to new products and brands. You can't go wrong here ladies.

If you're interested, go check them out- Ipsy Bag
*Sometimes there is a waitlist, but it goes pretty fast.

Also, you can do a quick review/survey of each product in your bags and earn points. This month I made it to 1,000 points which means I got to pick out an extra gift for next months bag! Next month, I'll get this added to my bag :)

Do any of the products in this months bag interest you?

{Face Products} Buy This, Instead of That!

And just like that…. it's Monday again!

I am all about saving money. Who isn't right? This is NOT a high end bashing post, because trust me I love high end products. I am also working on a post dedicated to high end products I think are worth the splurge.

There are a billion beauty products out there. Some have dupes and some nothing compare. I came up with 3 products I use daily that I feel you are 100% safe with the cheaper version over the expensive one. Now, obviously these are just my opinions, but I adore the following products and have used both versions. I feel the cheaper version delivers the exact same finish and results as the high end...

Face Powder- It's no secret, I have oily skin. The Rimmel Stay Matte powder from the drugstore is hands down my favorite. It gives my makeup a perfect finish, keeps me matte for longer than others and does not oxidize like so many other powders I've tried.

HD Setting Powder- These are used for setting your foundation and help to mattify the skin. I double up on trying to make sure my skin stays as matte as possible. I just dust this on my t-zone. No difference in these 2 products beside the price and amount. The $3 ELF one will last you forever! I bought mine at Target by the way.

Foundation- I am so glad I started using the Covergirl 3in1 foundation. I can't say enough good things about it. It stays put all day and I love the finish. And seriously, $9?! I like the MUFE Mat Velvet + too, but I don't see myself repurchasing it. The $36 price tag for the same result is not something I enjoy, $36 could buy me a new sweater or LOTS of morning coffees! This foundation applied with a flat kabuki brush, perfection.

Do you use any of these products? Any dupes you can suggest for me?

High Five for Friday!

Happy Friday everyone- I'm excited about the weekend because it's a 3 day weekend for us and we are heading to Kansas for the weekend to visit family. We haven't been in so long due to a lot of hectic weekends after my brothers accident, but we are finally making it!

Linking up today with Lauren Elizabeth for High Five for Friday and A. Liz Adventures and her crew for Five on Friday.
{one} I ordered a variety box of Quest Bars off Amazon. Even better, I got them for $1.76 due to using Discover Rewards. *we use our credit card to rack up rewards, but I pay it off each week. No debt, just rewards. Anyway, I've tasted a few of these and love them so far!

{two} I ordered and very quickly received a BicBand, and it rocks! I have seen Julie over at Peanut Butter Fingers talk about how much she loves these workout headbands for a long time, so I finally decided to try one. I tested it out last night- I did 2 miles on the elliptical then an hour bootcamp class and it didn't budge OR give me a headache. Score! I love that each month they donate to a different charity too. In January they are donating to Children's Tumor Foundation. If you are in the market for workout headbands that don't slip, I highly recommend them!

{three} Saturday I got to have lunch with my friend Sonya from high school. I had not seen her in over 5 years! It was so good to catch up with her (I forgot to snap a pic, fail) Then, I got to have dinner with my other friend since middle school, Tera. We get to meet up a couple times a year, I always love seeing her!

{four} Tuesday after work I went to Chipotle and grabbed dinner for my mom and I, then took it up to the hospital. I stayed for a few hours and visited with my mom and loved on my little brother. It was a nice night, and time well spent with them both. Thanks for all your continued prayers!

{five} I scored a beautiful cabinet at Sam's that I am kind of obsessed with. Dustin and I went in to get some protein mix and left with the cabinet. I immediately fell in love, and he actually liked it too and said it was a nice piece of furniture and we should get it. Um ok, you don't have to tell me twice! It goes perfect in our living room, couldn't be happier.

I hope you all have a good weekend! I'll be back Monday with a fun little post titled "Buy This, Instead of That".

Anything big planned this weekend, or will it be a relaxing one?

Thankful Thursday 1/16/14

Good morning and happy Thursday loves. Welcome back to our 3rd edition of Thankful Thursday. I've loved reading every ones posts on what they are thankful for each week. I'm really enjoying this link up- I like thinking about what I am thankful for in each day, it's a great reminder!

Make sure and go check out my co-hosts too! Carly Blogs HereThe Strong Family and Katie Elizabeth.

Ladies, fleece leggings is where it's at. We all love leggings, but they aren't warm! These babies will keep you warm...

In the midst of our 24 Day Challenge, I was so happy I made these lettuce wrap burgers and sweet potato fries. Delicious.

My sweet friend Cassie came up to the hospital and brought my family the neatest care package that she really put a lot of time  and thought into. Thank you girl! So thankful for EVERYONE who loves my family.

My mom, the angel. She is so amazing and strong. I took her dinner up to the hospital one night this week and spent the evening with her.

My sweet and full of personality dog, Pixie. She brings joy to my everyday. She is looking at me like I'm crazy because I put her treat on the floor, not in her mouth. #spoiled

Starbucks will start any day off right.

After days and days of cold and gloom, I've been so thankful to look out my office and see sunshine. It's amazing what difference that makes in my day.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will join us :)

{Naked3 Palette} My Go To Look & Swatches

Good morning! I know several people have recently bought the Urban Decay Naked3 Palette, or are debating on buying it. I was one of the crazies who stood in line at Sephora the night they started selling it. I had a gift card and didn't want to wait months to get it, those Naked palettes go quick!

I LOVE this palette. I own all of the Naked palettes and this and #2 are my faves, but I think I've already used this one more. Some people wonder if the pink tones will go with their eye color, but I honestly think it goes with any eye color. Pink tone shadows like these are great for brightening your eyes up. I love the way these pink and purples shadows make my green eyes pop!

Here is the look I've worn most with this palette-

First step, always prime your lids! I love Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer to make everything stay put and Mac Paint Pot in Painterly for a great base color.

1- I apply a mixture of Burnout and Dust all over my lid, stopping at the crease.

2- I apply Nooner and Limit in my crease, with a crease brush using windshield wiper motions. You're creating the line that separates your colors.

3- Time to darken up the outer V of your eye by using a pointed brush and the shade Darkside. Once I've created that V, I use a little bit of the shade Blackheart to make it even darker. Now you want to blend the outer V and crease together very well to make sure you have no harsh lines.

4- Now I just take a flat brush and the shade Strange to highlight my brow bone. If you want a little extra shimmer, add a touch of Dust too.

That's it, simple really! I finished off the look with some black liquid liner and a couple coats of L' Oreal Voluminous and Benefit They're Real mascara. Does anyone else use multiple mascaras?

Here are the swatches of the 12 colors included in the palette, I don't really feel like the pictures do it justice though, I was having some lighting issues…

Did you get the Naked3 palette? What are your favorite shades?

Have a blessed week!

A Tablet to Change Your Taste Buds? #H54F

Well hello again, and happy Friday to ya! Is it just me, or did this week creep? I think it's the blast of icy cold weather and dreary days, they've just been draaaaaaaging on!

But hey, it's Friday!

Linking up with a couple pretty ladies today- The Lauren Elizabeth and A. Liz Adventures  <-- seriously one of the cutest pregnant girls EVER. I hope I glow like she does when I'm pregnant.

Anyway, onto some highlights from my week!

{one} Seeing my baby brother. Poor guy had a rough week, he had another surgery to remove the shunt they put in Dec. 16th. He seems to be doing a little better though, praise God!

{two} Kristal got me hooked on these Ambrosia apples. I'd never even heard of them before and now I can't stop eating them! So juicy & sweet! Thanks Kristal, it's become a problem.

{three} Good ole' torture bootcamp! Ok, it's tough but it's a good kind of tough. I like it or I wouldn't go back for more, right? See those paper plates? Mountain climbers, and LOTS of them!

{four} We signed up for The Color Run in April. We did it last year and it as so fun, but we just walked. This year I am going to run my first 5k, it's a goal of mine for 2014! I'm doing it for Christian, our team name is Colors for Mayberry. Can't wait to tell him all about it one day.

{five} Ok, this last one is pretty interesting. Jen introduced me to something called Miracle Berry. Apparently people have miracle berry parties. I know, sounds a little drug-like huh? It's a plant from Africa that changes your taste buds, no worries, all natural fun going on here ladies. You can buy these tablets on Amazon. It's so crazy though, you let the tablet completely dissolve on your tongue then start eating! It changes the tastes of everything. Super sour stuff becomes very sweet. Girls, I ate and sucked all the juices out of a lemon & lime like it was candy! The tomatoes tastes like candy too, it was so weird! They last about 30 minutes or so. Pretty fun little experiment.

I had to share this pic I took of downtown Tulsa this week, I love it. Beautiful sunset, behind my favorite part of the city.

I hope you have a great weekend! My plans consist of bootcamp, lunch and dinner dates with a couple different friends, hospital time, grocery shopping & church with my love.

Anything fun planned for this weekend, or just staying warm?

Thankful Thursday 1/9/14

Good morning loves and welcome back for the 2nd installment of Thankful Thursday with my girls Katie ElizabethThe Strong Family and Carly Blogs Here

I must admit, I've had a little bit of a rough week. I was feeling better Monday then Tuesday it kind of hit me again. I'm ready for this sinus crud to kick rocks... It's been a rough week with my family too. Doors just continue to close on them regarding Christian and where he will go next for rehabilitation. He ended up having to go back into surgery Wednesday morning to remove the shunt they put in on Dec 16. For weeks he had been fighting fever and infection and they didn't really know why, so they wanted to remove the shunt and see if that helped. Just continue to keep my family in your prayers please, and you can follow the story here on Facebook if you'd like.

Here are some shots of some things I was thankful for each day this last week-

-So thankful for my LifeGroup. I love spending time learning the bible every Thursday night with some of my favorite ladies.

-Friday nights aren't too wild in our house, and I wouldn't trade that for anything! They slept, I watched 48 Hours. Party people, right here.

-Woke up Saturday morning and started back at bootcamp with Ang. Thankful for a little red cup pick me up afterwards! And then the sickness hit, bummer.

-Being sick is no fun, put puppy snuggles on a lazy Sunday will brighten anyones day.

-This healthy pre gym snack helped perk me up and rock bootcamp for sure, I needed it! Banana + cinnamon almonds = new fave snack.

-I got to go up and see my little brother for a while on Tuesday. I'd stayed away due to being sick, but I had to pop in. Sweet sweet boy.

-I have never been a hot tea fan, but I recently tried this one and I am kind of hooked. It's felt nice on my sore throat! (I think it's only available around Christmas, sorry!)

I can't wait to read everyone else's posts today, so link up and thanks for stopping by!

{Beauty Products} Finds & Fails of 2013

Good morning and happy Monday. How was your weekend? Mine wasn't the best, I've not been feeling well. I came down with a very sore throat and then just went downhill. I went to bootcamp Saturday when I probably shouldn't have. Spent the rest of the weekend in bed or on the couch, then Dustin started to feel it too. I don't have time to be sick, so we are trying our hardest to kick it! We are feeling better today. I swear by Emergen-C and just recently switched to the Airborne tablets for convenience. Well, I didn't realize your supposed to take 12 a day (not so convenient anymore) and was only taking 3. Then I get sick, coincidence?

Ok, so onto the subject of this post. I tried a lot of new products in 2013. Most of them I tried after reading recommendations from other beauty bloggers or YouTube gurus, therefore I didn't have a lot of fails. Which is good, I do not enjoy buying products then not loving them, waste of money!

I narrowed it down to my top 3 finds and fails, but I have a few other products I must at least mention too, total keepers!

{FINDS}

One- Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer- This actually took the place of my Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer this year. I still like that one, but I feel this Lorac one works even better!

Two- The Lorac Pro Palette- I finally splurged on this and love it, it's very versatile with 8 shimmer and 8 matte shades and great for traveling. Great shadows! I did a look with it here. If you buy the palette you get the primer with it, bonus!

Three- Mac Pro Longwear Concealer- My new fave under eye  concealer for sure! Blends beautifully, stays put all day and covers any discoloration under your eyes.

{FAILS}

One- Almay Get up and Grow Mascara- I had high hopes for this but it did not impress me at all and by the end of the days I had streaks all over the top of my eye lids. Hate that!

Two- Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Powder- Hard to explore, but this powder left me with way too much of the "powder" look, the look that you don't want your powder to leave you with. It's like it all just set on top of my skin. It was way too thick for my liking.

Three- Benefit Stay don't Stray Eye Primer- I LOVE Benefit products, one of my favorite high end brands. Unfortunately this stuff was a huge fail for me. It made my eyes crease worse than anything I've ever used, I would have been better off with no primer. Has anyone tried this and liked it?

A few other products I fell in love with this year are the Naked3 palette, It's a 10 Miracle Leave In Product and the UrbanDecay De-Slick Setting Spray. They are new holy grail beauty products for me!

Did you fall in love with any new products in 2013, beauty related or not?
