Finally, A Lasting Nail Polish?

Alright ladies, how many of you have seen the CND Vinylux Weekly Polishes? I had seen them only on The Small Things Blog but for some reason hadn't paid much attention. I think for some reason I was under the impression they still had to be cured with a UV light.

Then, I read about them again on Cassie's blog (here) I decided right away it was time to test them out for myself. So I went on Amazon and placed an order. You have to buy the Weekly Top Coat separate then you can buy a color polish, there are 76 color options. I wanted a pretty standard pink, so I went with Gotcha. I got them pretty quickly and it was time to put this baby to the test.

weekly nail polish

::My process::
-I used a base coat. You don't have to, it's habit for me.
-I applied 2 coats of the pink polish
-I then applied 1 coat of the top coat

Guess What? It actually worked.

Weekly Nail Polish

I got my first chip on day 8, 1 chip on day 8 is a WIN for me. With most polishes (Essie, OPI, China Glaze) I have a chip after day 3, 4 at the most. I always use a base and top coat too.

I tested it twice. The 2nd time, I wore it to Mexico. Guess what, I came home CHIP FREE. Everyone knows water and sand = chips. I always get a shellac manicure before a trip, but I'm sick of spending $30 for a one time polish that rips apart my nails. No more, this passed the test.

My favorite part, they aren't expensive. They're cheaper than Essie polishes! I ordered them off Amazon, the top coat was about $6.50 and the polish prices vary but are all under $8!

Removal? Came right off! No soaking, no tearing up my nails.

The only "cons" would be it's not a quick dry top coat. I'm pretty spoiled to my quick dry no waits, so when I use this I will just have to make sure I have some TV time afterward to just sit. It's a pretty thick polish as well.

I will definitely be buying more of these. They are my new trip/vacation go to's for sure.

Have you ever tried these? Do you think you will?

  2. Well, you've got me sold! I feel the same way about Shellac manicures, so I definitely will be giving these polishes a try.

  3. I've used this, but not with correct top coat. I think that top coat is key!

  5. Love the color that you picked! I have tried Vinylux a few times at my nail place and I loved it. But I don't love that it's more expensive than a regular manicure. The no-chip manicures are only good for vacations but is it just me or do they feel kinda funny after a while? My manager at work did the same thing that you did and put two coats of the color on and her nails were perfect for 2 weeks. I hope that you are having a great week! :-)

  7. My husband the other day commented that I love to paint my nails. I laughed. I hate too, I just want them painted which happens to mean I paint them every week - clearly I need to try this so it doesn't have to be a weekly routine!

  10. OMG it didn't chip!!?! I try SO many nail polishes all that claim to not chip or make your mani last longer... it never works for me. The only thing that works is gel but then I always end up peeling it off... oops. I love this color too!

  15. I've never heard of these, but am tired of: constantly doing and redoing my own nails because of chipping or spending $35+ on a manicure (not even shellac!). This sounds perfect, and I love that color (and that they're cheaper than Essie!).

  18. Oooooh, I'm intrigued! I've heard of this polish, and use to use it when I got shellac done. But like you, I am SO over the price tag for something that rips my nails off! I'll definitely check these out!

  19. Yay for this new polish!! I will definitely have to look into it more. I'm a gel nail girl but will keep this in mind when I go back to school & I don't have the luxury of getting my nails done! Super cute summer color too!

  20. Wow 8 days and they looked great! Love this review and I'm going to go get me some of this polish. I'm not a huge hand nail painter but when I do it, It needs to last cause I do not have that kind of patience to do it often

  22. Oh my gosh, I need this in my life!! No chips after 8 days is impressive! I love shellac manicures but my nails just can't handle the damage. Amazon here I come!

  23. Two of my close friends are nail professionals and they both told me about Vinylux and how awesome it is to use at home! I've yet to try it though. I'm a huge fan of shellac/gel, but it can get pricey to keep it on all the time. I will be getting some of this ASAP! That pink is perfect for summer!
