{Guest Post} Katie Elizabeth

I'm so excited to have Katie guest posting here today. I honestly don't remember how I came across her blog, but I'm so glad I did. I just wish I'd met her before Kristal and I went to Chicago so we could have actually met. I think we'd be bff's. Her blog is the perfect mix of lifestyle, food and beauty. LOVE it and love her, and you will too!

Take it away girl-

Hi everyone!  I'm Katie from the Katie Elizabeth blog.  I write about a variety of topics including my life as a newlywed in Chicago, my favorite recipes and my love for any and all beauty products!  I'm so excited to be posting here on Make Me Up Mia today as I share my top 5 beauty products under $5.  A big thank you to Mia for having me!

I'm a total girly-girl and love experimenting with makeup and beauty products.  I typically use higher end brands because I find that in most cases, you get what you pay for.  That being said, there are some really amazing products to be found at the drugstore for under $5!  Here are my favorites...

Top 5 Under $5

+ Aussie 3 Minute Miracle ($3.99) makes your hair super soft, shiny and smooth - who wouldn't want that?  I can't say it's the absolute best deep conditioner out there but for the price, it's pretty amazing.  Use this once a week and you'll see a huge difference in your hair - especially in the winter!

+ NYX Butter Gloss ($4.99) is a recent favorite of mine.  I looove the color Tiramisu for a soft everyday look.  The gloss literally goes on like butter and leaves your lips hydrated for hours!  I'd compare it to MAC's Cremesheen Glass glosses.  Since getting this, it's the lip product I reach for the most.

+ Aquaphor Healing Ointment ($4.99) is something every girl should have in their makeup drawer.  If you are cursed with dry winter skin, pick some of this up yesterday today!  A couple of years ago, I had the worst dry skin of my life - my skin was literally falling off my face (I'm sorry for that gross image).  I used to slather this stuff all over my face before going to bed.. my husband loved that, but it worked!  Aquaphor will literally heal your skin overnight!

+ L'Oreal Boost It Spray ($4.99) is a product I've been talking about a LOT lately and for good reason!  I have pretty flat hair that is near impossible to "poof" or to hold a curl.  This stuff has been a lifesaver for me!  I either spray it on the crown of my head before teasing or spray it all over my hair before curling.  I had been using an Oribe texturizing spray for the last couple of years but this spray blows it out of the water - and is 1/8 the price, seriously.  I'm going to be screwed if they ever discontinue this product!

+ NYC Nail Polish ($1.99) actually might be my favorite brand of nail polish.  I do love Essie and OPI but I never seem to have as good of luck doing my own nails with those brands.  NYC polishes rarely chip, they go on smooth and hold their shine but my favorite part is how fast they dry!  Park Ave is one of my favorite fall/winter colors!

What are some of your favorite drugstore products under $5?  Thanks again to Mia for having me today! :)

  10. I love a Chicago girl, especially Katie Elizabeth. I need to try the NYX brand...it's like the ultimate cult/drugstore brand. I have an afro in real life so I don't need the hair products that create lift. LOL :)
