Jan 2014 Faves

It's that time again, time for everything I loved and found myself using most in the month of January. I have a handful of beauty faves and a couple non-beauty picks too.

First up, BEAUTY-

{one} A few months ago, I received a Michael Todd charcoal face scrub in my Ipsy bag. With everything that you receive in your bags, you also get a discount or special with each brand. That month they were running a great deal on Michael Todd, so I went for it and bought the Acne or Oily Skin set. It took me a while to get to it, due to using other product up. I am now using it all and I am really enjoying it. I love that they are organic and I love using a system of several different products like this. I am a weird-o and actually love my night time routine of taking my makeup off, cleansing, exfoliating, toning and moisturizing! I also enjoy the dentist.... see, weird-o.

{two} Another item I received in my Ipsy bag and had to buy, Sexy Hair Spray Clay. After I curl my hair, I flip over and spray this all over. It holds my curl all day! The downside, it's $18 for a not so big bottle that doesn't last very long. Ulta has their Sexy Hair products on sale all the time though, buy 2 get 1 free. I stock up!

{three} My go to night time moisturizer has been the Korres Greek Yoghurt Moisturizing Face Cream. (Yes, yoghurt) I got a sample of this and had to purchase the full size. Man, those samples are doing their job huh?! It is so creamy and thick, I feel so hydrated after using it. It smells nice and fresh too. I only use it at night, it's too heavy for day time use.

{four} I've had this for a while, but have found myself reaching for it a lot lately. It's the Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. Have you ever tried the lip butters? I enjoy them, they are just the right pop of color and nice and moisturizing. This is a subtle berry color.

{five} I bought this Real Techniques Blush Brush on a whim. I'd used the same blush brush for as long as I can remember. No idea where it came from or the brand, but it was a pretty firm brush. I wanted to try this out because it looked soft and fluffy. I quickly became hooked. The shape allows you to perfectly apply your blush to just the apples of your cheeks. I feel like the $8 price tag makes it even better.

Here are a couple non-beauty faves I discovered last month-
I've been buying huge bags of these at Sam's and can't get enough. They are delicious! I can't stop eating them.... I've been chowing down on them with guacamole, salsa and creamy spinach dip. I need to stop, somebody take them away!
If you see this Meyer's Honeysuckle dish soap at Target, do yourself a favor and buy it. It smells delicious. Dustin and I both love this stuff. It makes the whole kitchen smell yummy!

I somehow stumbled across this sweet girl Lizzie Velasquez on Instagram one day. She's 24 and suffers from a rare disease that causes her to not be able to gain weight. I believe she said in her whole life, she's never weighed more than 65 lbs. I immediately fell in love with her positive and bubbly personality, she has a YouTube channel as well. She is a motivational speaker and author. If you have time, you should watch her "How DO YOU define yourself" video.

There are my recent faves! I'm trying out a lot of new products in February, so I can't wait to share my thoughts on them all with you soon.

*I created a button last week, you can find it toward the top of my sidebar ----->

I've shared our story with you all several times regarding my little brother and his accident. Our family is struggling right now and could really use your continued prayers. Kristal wrote a sweet post today, make sure to check it out. You can continue to follow our story on the Pray for Mayberry Facebook page. Thank you all, I will update more later on.

Are any of these mentioned products faves of yours? Did you have any new faves in January?

  1. I found Lizzie the other day too! Awesome personality. I found ips all natural chips yesterday and they are great! They are made out of egg whites so they have more protein than most chips. Continued prayers for your family!

    1. The staying power isn't the greatest, I'd say medium staying power. I am never satisfied with staying power though, I've yet to find one that truly stayed and didn't look dried out. Any suggestions?

  7. I've wondered about that night cream, so I'm glad to hear you like it! I just started using a few new skincare products so I need to wait before I try anything else new, but I'm definitely going to consider that for the future! That blush brush IS so soft! At first I thought it was way too big for my face but after I got the hang of how to use it, I love it!

Keeping your brother & your family in my prayers <3

    1. It's one that I will definitely continue to repurchase. Love it! Yeah, I wasn't sure about the size of that brush either, but I'm glad I bought it! Thanks for your prayers, I appreciate it!

  8. Ok, those crackers look like something my mom used to buy when we were kids and I LOVED them!!! She couldn't keep them in the house very long at all because I devoured them. But I haven't been able to find anything like them in years. I'm definitely checking them out!!!

  9. Charcoal is great for your skin. I use face wash which contains charcoal because it deep cleanses my face from within and removes all the dirt from within the pores.
I am also mostly into natural and home care skin regime and love using low fat yoghurt as it is on my face. It has shown incredible results on my skin! x
