H54F + Some Anniversary Love

Good morning loves, this post might be a little on the longer side. It's this weeks H54F and today is also mine and my husbands 5th anniversary, so I may have to talk about that a little.

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

#1 of course, today being our anniversary!

-Kristal and I booked a little upcoming trip to Chicago! I am so excited to explore the city with her. We thought since our hubbies had an Alaska trip it was only fitting we got one too!

-I met the cutest little ball of fur ever, Cosby. My friends sweet kitty, he is so precious. I'm going to have to invest in a Ragdoll kitty one day for sure.

-Sold my hubbys truck, which makes us officially debt free! All in thanks to Dave Ramsey. Something we've been working on for almost 2 years. Great feeling!

-Spent last weekend in KS celebrating my brother and sister in law getting married. We had an amazing weekend, love them.

Onto today, celebrating 5 years of wedded bliss with this boy.

I can't believe it's been 5 years, time truly does fly when you're having fun. When I think back to when we got married I think about how incredibly young we were. I feel like we were babies, we kind of were. Dustin was only 19, about to turn 20. I had just turned 22 a couple months prior. Cradle robber, right here!

A friend and I were discussing recently how we both got married very young, but we think it was a good thing for us. This may not be the case for everyone, but it has worked for us. We said this because when we look back to planning our wedding, none of it really mattered to us. I was nick named bride-chilla, I’d MUCH rather have that name than
bride-zilla. I didn’t stress about anything, not even the top tier of our wedding cake ending up on the ground. Our wedding was so simple, cheap and nothing extravagant but it was our wedding and a very special day. And when I think back to our first year of marriage, it was all so easy and fun. The way it should be.

When I reflect on the last 5 years, I think about all the happy times and amazing things we’ve been so blessed to experience at such a young age. I truly married my best friend. Only 5 years in, and so much still to look forward to.

Happy Anniversary to my best friend, I love you bear.

Ok loves, I leave in the morning for my Cancun vaca that I haven't shut up about.... I will be in total relaxation for a whole week in my idea of paradise

So have a good week, and stop back by for some guest posts, faves and reviews while I'm away!

My Faves in YouTube Beauty Gurus

Good morning loves! Hope everyones week is off to a good start so far. I am busy preparing for my trip this weekend, come on Saturday! We leave for Cancun Saturday morning and it can't come quick enough. I'm slowly making my way down my to-do list one task at a time.

Today I am going to introduce you to a few of my favorite YouTubers. A little over a year ago I somehow wandered onto a makeup tutorial on YouTube. I had no idea this world of beauty and makeup existed on there. I have been totally hooked since and have subscribed to a ton of beauties! I feel like I have learned a ton from several of these ladies. I have definitely bought a ton of stuff too, they'll make you do that... I love learning tutorials, tips and about all the good and bad products out there.

First up, Jaclyn Hill. She is a former Mac artist and now does freelance makeup. She is absolutely gorgeous and so informative!

Next, Casey Holmes. She is gorgeous as well and seriously has PERFECT hair. Her hair tutorials are great, I just wish I had her hair!

MakeupByTiffanyD was one of the first girls I started watching. Great tutorials on makeup, hair and nails. Beautiful home decor too, she shares a lot of that as well.

Missglamorazzi is easy to fall in love with, she is adorable and really seems like the absolute sweetest person ever. I love her young bubbly personality.

MissJenFabulous is known for her awesome nail tutorials. This girl can do it all! You've got to check out some of her videos.

Megan, or Ciaoobelllaxo was the girl I stumbled across in the beginning. Her perfect hair and makeup instantly made me want to watch and learn. Love her!

Well there are a few of my faves. I am subscribed to several more, but I don't want to keep you here all day ;) Check some out if you haven't already and tell me what you think!

The Liebster Award Tag

Welcome back loves. Today I am going to be doing the Liebster Award tag. I was actually tagged my 2 different girls, Sherry Darling and Brooke. Therefore I decided to take some questions from each of them rather than doing this twice. Hope that's ok ;)

What is the Liebster Award tag? You answer 11 questions given to you, make up 11 questions of your own and tag 11 bloggers to continue the tag and answer your questions. It's supposed to be for newer bloggers under 200 followers.

My 11 questions to answer:

1- Where is your favorite place to be? At home with my hubby. I love being at home just spending time with him.

2- What inspired you to start your blog? Obviously I love all things beauty related! My wanting to blog started with a love of beauty vloggers on YouTube. I am subscribed to a ton of them and watch them every night before I go to sleep. I have learned so much from them. I am not an "in front of a camera" kind of girl so I decided to start a blog. I am also a huge blog fan. It's been so much fun getting to know other bloggers. I love sharing my love of beauty with others!

3- What's your favorite color? Pink! I am 100% girly girl....

4- Would you rather be at a party with a big group of friends or having a movie night with your few closest friends? Movie night with my closest, I seriously have the best girl friends!

5- What are 5 things you want to do before you die? In no order and totally random... Visit NYC, visit another country and visit/help hurting children, pet a giraffe, watch a taping of a live show (like AFV, Ellen, The Big Bang, etc...) Stay in a hut over the water in Bora Bora with my hubby.

6- Fave skincare brand? I would have to go with Philosophy. I truly love so many of their products and they are without the harsh stuff others contain.

7- Any claims to fame? Well I live in the same town as Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood so I have seen them several times. Took a pump class with Trisha recently, that was fun.

8- If you could be anyone for a day who would it be? I have always been a LA dreamer. I love all the reality shows and just seeing how they live, and how much it differs from here. Not that I am obsessed with wanting that, I just like to watch. My fave celeb is Giuliana Rancic, so I think I would want to switch with her for the day. Next stop E! News!

9- If you could only eat 3 foods a day, what would they be? That depends, is health a factor here haha? Healthy- salad, carrots and chicken. Non-healthy- Pizza, ice cream and tacos.

10- Pastel or bright colors? Pastels. I should say brights due to my pale complexion, but I just love pastels. Mint, ah!

11- Lipstick or lipgloss and name your favorite? I definitely wear more lipstick than gloss. I am currently LOVING Mac in Minimauve.

Next up, my 11 questions for the bloggers I'm tagging....

1- Fave guilty pleasure?
2- Fave movie of all time?
3- 1 beauty item you'd have to have on a deserted island?
4- 1 thing you're most proud of?
5- Fave store to shop at for clothing?
6- If money was not a factor, where would you love to live?
7- Worst habit of yours?
8- If calories and carbs didn't matter, 1 food you would eat daily?
9- Your dream job?
10- If you were granted 2 wishes, what would they be?
11- If you could have lunch with 1 celeb, who would it be?

The bloggers I tag:

Audrey
Kristal
Lizzy
Simone
Cydney

And anyone else who would like to participate!

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

Here are my highlights from this past week...

{1} My hubby returned from his Alaska trip! I was sure happy to have him home.
{2} Early morning coffee and blogging sessions have been throughly enjoyed this week.
{3} We made Shay's Summer Chipotle & Corn Chicken and Waffles. Holy yum, we definitely enjoyed that one!
{4} LifeGroup with my ladies. After missing last week, I was happy to be back at it last night. Love that time each week.
{5} Date night with Kristal. While our men were away we got to hang out a lot. We enjoyed a dinner and shopping date the night before they returned. We had so much fun!

I hope everyone else has had a great week as well. If you saw my Instagram, you'll know about my obsession this week-

I seriously can't stop eating it, it's soooooo good! I'm devouring this jar one spoonful at a time. If you haven't tried this, go buy it. Now. Or maybe you shouldn't, it's addicting.

Ipsy Glam Bag: August 2013

Morning loves. I am sitting here enjoying a glorious cup of coffee and blogging before I get ready for work. I am not usually up this early, but due to busy schedules and 2 upcoming travels I am going to have to get up early for a while to get work done.

I think it will do me some good. I am one of those people who likes to stay in bed until the last minute and then I'm running late. I set 4 alarms everyday and snooze for about an hour. I REALLY need to break this habit and just GET UP! Once I drag myself out of bed, I'm just fine. Maybe getting up early the next 2 weeks will help me break it.... What about you, do you get right up or snooze for a long time?

Ok, onto the reason behind this post, my August Ipsy Glam bag! I was really excited to get this one. I have really been wanting to try some Michael Todd products and the new Urban Decay lipstick so I was excited to see them in there!

This months theme is "Glamour Academy" in honor of back to school. Here are the products I received in my bag:
{1} Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub- deluxe sample (I'm really enjoying this)
{2} Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Anarchy- sample
{3} Chella Eyebrow Color Pencil in Dazzling Dark Brown- full size, $18
{4} Mica Shimmer Powder in Bronze- full size, $14.95
{5} Pixie Lash Booster Mascara- sample

Great bag, as always! You can't beat a $10 bag full of goodies each month people, you just can't! If you are interested in signing up, here is a link:

Well, I'm off to get ready for work. Hope you all have a fabulous Tuesday.

Giveaway Winner & My Week

Afternoon Loves, my hubby is home and thanks to Kristal I am sitting here enjoying a cup of our favorite coffee.

All is right in my world.

I am beyond happy for my hubby to be home. He was in Alaska for over a week. After being up for 30+ hours and traveling throughout the night he was pretty exhausted by the time he made it home. We had a few hours together before he was off to bed around 4pm, can't blame him! That 4am alarm of his tomorrow is going to be HARD. I am just glad he is home with me.

How gorgeous is this? (not just our adorable men)

I must say, I would LOVE to see Alaska one day. Just not the way our men did it. I would be ok with a short hike or 2 and a cabin in the mountains. I am not really the roughing it kind of girl. Just being honest... So happy that Dustin got to go on this trip and experience everything he did. He loved it so much. Thank you Robert and Kristal!

I sure had a wonderful time with Kristal while our men were off hiking the mountains. I enjoyed our evening chats and dinners, playtime with the kids and the date nights eating and shopping we had.

Thankful we had all this time together, definitely made this week fun!!

I also got to spend a couple days with my mom that was much needed, even though we are off to Cancun in less than 2 weeks! We ate, drank and shopped all the good clearance buys. Love spending time with her.

She's going to kill me.

It's been a memorable week.

Congrats to Kelley for winning the Ageless Derma Gel Cleanser giveaway! I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. Thank you to everyone that entered!

I am off to food prep and get ready for our week. Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

2- With our hubbies out of town this week, Kristal and I have spent so much time together and I have absolutely loved it! I adore her children, this pic is precious Emma wearing my swim top. Not sure it's the right size... Thanks for feeding me delicious meals Kristal, I have enjoyed it all!
3- Clearance shoe find at Target, LOVE!

Confessions of a Beauty Blogger-Tag

Hello loves! I was tagged by Lizzy to do the Confessions of a Beauty Blogger tag. So here you go, a little more info on me!

{1} How many hours a week do you spend writing/editing posts? I would say about 4-6 maybe. It depends really, links and taking/editing photos is the most time consuming so it really depends on that. I try to post at least 3 X's a week.

{2} Are you a spender or a saver? Both. We are doing the Dave Ramsey program right now (it's amazing by the way) so I actually don't spend a ton. I try to save up for stuff I really want. But yeah, a girl likes to shop!

{3} When is it easiest for you to blog? My husband goes to bed early for work so I usually do in the evenings after he goes to sleep. I also do on Sundays.

{4} What makes writing behind a computer comfortable for you? I find it completely comfortable. I write my thoughts/opinions and just hope that somebody enjoys it.

{5} What's your worst makeup/hair habit? I'll do both... Hair- teasing. Makeup- Tugging on my eye sometimes while doing liquid eyeliner. (BAD MIA)

{6} What's one quote you wish the world would live by? Definitely "Treat others the way you want to be treated" It's simple but if more people would think about it and actually do it, we'd be a nicer bunch!

{7} How long do you spend getting ready everyday? Work days- about 45 min. Weekends/going out- about an hour and a half. I LOVE spending more time on my makeup.

{8} Who's your fave blogger? I'm assuming this means beauty blogger, that would be Emily. I also really love Jade and Cara. A bunch of stunning ladies for sure.

{9} Who is a blogger you read who you think deserves more subscribers than they have? All of them :)

{10} What's one thing you're excited about in the upcoming year? My hubby and I are planning a vacation to Europe in 2014, so excited about it!

{11} What's your most awkward blogging moment? I have not had any yet, knock on wood.

{12} How long does it take you to prep a post? Again, this depends but an hour or two. You don't realize how time consuming it is, but I love it!

{13} Are you wearing pant right now or are you actually wearing pajama bottoms/sweatpants? Jeans, but I wish I was in sweats!

{14} What are you most proud of in your life? Being baptized last year and marrying my hubby 5 years ago this month.

{15} Who do you tag? YOU! If you are a beauty blogger and reading this, you should do it...

Mia

A Slim-Fast Strawberries ’N’ Cream Shake Recipe

I was sent this Slimfast Voxbox from Influenster and wanted to share its contents. I am all about looking for ways to cut calories so I was pretty interested in trying this one out. A low calorie yummy strawberry drink perfect for summer, sign me up! One serving of this drink only packs 190 cal.

It came with a shake, cute little martini glass and some recipes. I received the Strawberries 'N' Cream shake mix so the recipe for me to use was the Sassy Strawberry Colada. I must admit, I do not like coconut, but I still wanted to try it. I figured 1 oz coconut rum couldn't be too strong right? True, it wasn't bad! I actually enjoyed it, my hubby on the other hand devoured it, said it tasted like candy! I made a double batch, he finished the entire blender full....

Here is the recipe for the Sassy Strawberry Colada:

3 oz Slimfast Strawberries 'N' Cream Shake
1 oz Coconut Rum
(3-4 drops Coconut extract for non-alcohol version)
2 fresh pineapple chunks
2 fresh whole strawberries
3 ice cubes, add more as needed for smooth consistency
Strawberry for garnish (I added a lime too)
Drink up!

Here are some other Slimfast drink recipes for you to try. Let me know if you try any of them.

Here is a little bit about the product:

SlimFast1 can help you Get What You Really Want this summer!

My Makeup Collection & Organization

Afternoon loves! Today I am sharing my makeup collection and organization/storage with you. As you know, I love makeup. It's my passion. I do collect it, trying and experimenting with makeup is something I love. I'm also an organization freak (nerd), I love cleanliness and complete organization, I just can't resist. I'm not going to go into detail a lot on most of these pics because I labeled everything for you, enjoy!

This drawer is to the right of my sink. Chapsticks, am/pm skincare items and other daily use items.

I keep this little basket on my counter for samples I want to use up. I get so many samples and in order to use them I need them out in the open. I also keep my allergy medicine in here, I'd forget it too!

There you have it, my absolute favorite area in my house.

A couple little things:
*Don't forget to enter to win the Ageless Derma giveaway. It's open until Thursday evening.
*I now have a Facebook page for the blog, I'd love for you to like it and keep up with me that way.

High Five for Friday!

Morning loves! It's that time again, Friday and time to reflect on the last week. It's 6am, I got up at 4am and I am tired. More on that in a few....

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

It's been a non stop but great week for me!
1- The hubby and I had a date night. We have a lot of date nights. I guess when you don't have kids a dinner/outing is a date right? We had pizza and drinks in downtown Tulsa. We were home by 7:30. Party animals, party of 2.
2- Bachelorette finale party with my girls. Great time with the girls, love them! I kind of touched on my Bachelorette thoughts here
3- Tuesday was take out/cuddle night in our house. The hubby is about to be gone for over a week and that was the only night this week we were both home so we declared it "do nothing Tuesday". Note to self, stop eating Chinese food, forever.
4- Saw Taylor Swift this week. Not going to lie, this may not have been my 1st time, or 2nd time to see her... I know, you either love or hate her, I happen to like her and she puts on a great show. I am just a concert junkie. My friend I went with has seen her every time with me as well, we both share a love for concerts and T Swift.
5- Before the concert we ate at Stonehorse Cafe in Utica Square. I am pretty sure I had the best Hawaiian pizza I've ever had, YUM! I'm obsessed with Hawaiian pizza. We also shared a pb&j dessert, it intrigued us so we just had to try. I was pleasantly surprised!

Back to my early morning, I got up with my hubby today to tell him bye. He leaves for Alaska today for over a week. He is going with Kristal's hubby. They are fishing, camping, backpacking, hiking, biking, etc.... Not my idea of fun, us girls are going to have lots of girl time while they are away :) I also had to take my mom to the airport this morning about 5am. She is off to Florida for a week to babysit my nieces. Everyone is leaving me! That's ok though, I need some down time. First up on the list, catch up on sleep tonight!

Don't forget to enter my Ageless Derma giveaway. It is going on until the 15th.

Thanks for reading and hope you have a great weekend!

A Beauty Swap & Giveaway

Hello Loves! I hope your week is off to a good start. Did anyone watch The Bachelorette finale last night? I did with a group of girlfriends. This season was so different, I wanted Chris to win, but it just ended up being odd circumstances. I'm happy for them though. What did you think?

Anyway, I recently did a beauty swap with the lovely Cydney and wanted to share with you the items she sent to me? If you aren't familiar with how a swap works, you can kind of set your own rules/guidelines. We decided on a $50 budget and to pick out some of our favorite drugstore items and 1 highend product. It was so fun buying some of my favorite things for her, and even more fun opening up all her packages she sent me :) Below is what I received from her.

1- Freeman Anti Stress Mask I used this thing over the weekend for the first time and really liked it. It's a dead sea minerals mask so I felt like it dried my skin out a little (in a good way, my oily skin needed it) and cleared my pores out too. I had a bright blue face too which was fun!
2- e.l.f. 3-in-1 Mascara She got me this because the wand is similar to my fave Benefit mascara. I have not tried it yet but will be soon.
3- A Sonia Kashuk eye shadow quad that is so beautiful. Can't wait to use this bad boy!
4- Smashbox "Pop of Pink" kit. I am in love with this. It came with a beautiful pink blush, lipstick and lip gloss and a huge mascara that I am excited to try out.
5-A L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in the shade Pink Sapphire. I LOVE these things so I am happy to add this to my collection.
6-A Raspberry Lemonade Blistex chapstick, which happens to be one of my faves! This girl can never have enough chapstick...
7- NYX Blotting Papers This girl obviously reads my blog and knows about my oily skin huh?
8- A Clinique lipstick in the shade All Heart. I have yet to try this out as well, but will be soon!

Again, this was so much fun and thank you so much Cydney for everything you sent me! Make sure to head over to her blog to see what I sent her!

Now, onto the GIVEAWAY! Ageless Derma  is giving away a bottle of the Anti-Aging Gel Cleanser I reviewed the other day on my blog! How fun is that?! I am really liking this cleanser so I am excited for one of you to get to try it out too!
All you have to do is copy this and post it on your Twitter:
" @makemeupmia - I want to win the @AgelessDerma cleanser! "
If you do NOT have a Twitter, you can leave me a comment below telling me you want to win. If you leave a comment make sure to leave your email address as well!
This giveaway will be open until August 15th, good luck!
*Product can only be shipped within the US

Ageless Derma Review

Hey loves! Today I am doing a review on a face cleanser I have been using everyday, at least once a day for the past few weeks. It's by the company Ageless Derma.

The product I've been using is the Ageless Derma Anti-Aging Glycolic Facial Gel Cleanser

The product comes in a 4 oz. bottle and the cost is $25

I have really been loving this product. It reminds me of the Philosophy cleanser I enjoy. I am a fan of gel cleansers. I feel like for my oily skin type they are what works best for me. As I'm aging, I know it's time to start properly preparing my skin. You don't want to try to reverse aging effects once they've already happened, you want to protect your skin and take the necessary steps to prevent them. You can't start too early ladies! I already notice changes in my under eye area, ugh....

The top 3 reasons I'm loving this product:
1-It's anti-aging, sign me up!
2- It cleans off all my makeup. I am not sure if I've mentioned before, I do not want to use multiple items to clean my face. I don't use eye makeup remover so my cleanser has to remove everything, and this one does just that.
3- It's gentle on my skin and there is no harsh scent to it. It leaves my skin feeling soft and clean. It doesn't dry out my face which I really appreciate.

Some of the main ingredients:
1-Glycolic Acid: This ingredient works to to exfoliate the dead skin cells from your face exposing the the new live skin cells.
2-Soluble Collagen: This is a protein that will add elasticity to your skin.
3-Aloe: Aloe is amazing for so many reasons, it is known for having healing abilities to the skin.

Would I purchase this cleanser? YES. For all the reasons I listed above on why I'm loving it! I look forward to trying out more products from them. They offer mineral based cosmetics that I am very interested in trying!

I will be doing a giveaway with Ageless Derma soon, so stay tuned :)

*I received this product for review purposes, the writings and opinions are of my own.

Mia

High Five for Friday!

Good morning and happy Friday loves! This hectic week is coming to an end, yay. Time for another H54F posting, as I sit here and eat my vanilla chex....

 photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

1- I visited the local farmers market with Kristal. We had a good time. I came home with Kale, Moscato jelly, the biggest cherry tomatoes I've ever seen and some sweet onions.
2-I made cupcakes for a friends birthday. I used to make cupcakes all the time, almost started a business but I realized it wasn't for me. I do still enjoy baking them though, occasionally.
3-Bath time with Pixie means snuggle time after and I <3 it!
4-I'm doing a beauty swap with a fellow beauty blogger and I got my package this week, SO FUN. That is a sneak at one of my gifts, detailed blog coming next week.
5-I got my first Honest shipment this week. Fun mail week! In my first bundle I'm trying the sunscreen (for Mexico!), toothpaste, veggie wash, dish soap and conditioner. I'll keep you posted.

I had a busy week but a good one as always. I hope you all did as well. Any big weekend plans? My hubby and I are going on date tomorrow night, we seem to be doing that pretty often lately. We started this thing where each month one of us has to completely plan a date. Nothing crazy, no big surprise, just make the decisions fully on their own. We're one of those couples, "Where do you want to go" "I don't care, you pick" "No you pick" so we came up with this little plan, it's been fun so far. This month is my turn ;)

Mia
