Today my usual Friday link up with Lauren Elizabeth and A. Liz Adventures is going to be a little different.
Out of everything that happened to me or I did this week, there is only 1 major highlight from my week.
My little brother, Christian, had surgery Monday morning. It was supposed to be Saturday, but was moved to Monday morning at 7am. A week after his accident in Sept. they had to do an emergency surgery because they couldn't get his brain swelling under control and there was no more room. They performed a double bone flap removal. They removed 2 huge pieces of his skull, each the size of your hands. For 3 months these pieces of his skull sat on ice in the hospital. Crazy to think about, huh?
Those 3 months were very difficult. When you are missing skull like that, it's just your skin on top of your brain. To say they've had to be EXTRA careful is an understatement. He had to wear a protective helmet at all times or if they removed it he had to be watched very closely so that he couldn't touch his head, or anything else happen. So, for multiple reasons we were very ready to get those plates put back in. They also decided to put a shunt in to drain excess fluid from his brain to his stomach, that will be there the rest of his life.
Monday morning the surgery was performed and it went flawlessly. The doctor said there are a lot of things that could have gone wrong, but not one thing did. He said God blessed them during that surgery. We know this is just the first of many blessings that are to come regarding Christians healing.
So for now he is resting and recovering from this major surgery, but we are already seeing some exciting changes and can't wait to see more! He has been struggling a little with fever and throwing up, praying for that to get better. We are ready for our boy to be healed and back to us.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support, you can follow the story and his progress here.
Have a wonderful weekend. Today is my last day of work, then my hubby and I are both off all next week. Much needed!
