Hey loves, we are just getting settled into our room for the night here in Bethany, OK. We are visiting my brother for the weekend. This is the first time we have seen him since he was moved to this hospital 2 weeks ago, it's nice to be here with him.
Somebody has settled into the hotel room nicely.....
Sorry, can't help it.
Ok, onto day #2 in Chicago. We hopped on the 10:30 am train this morning and headed in for round 2. We weren't sure what to expect today being the morning of the Chicago marathon, but by the time we got there we had no issues. I think they were all done by then. We did see runners all throughout the day though. They looked exhausted, were all limping and some even needing assistance walking. I made a mental note to myself a few times that day, "No 26 mile runs for me". Haha, like I ever would....
First stop, The Skydeck for another try. This time it was a 2 hour wait. We wanted to see it but didn't want to wait that long, maybe next time. There will be a next time! We decided to eat before we got started and we wanted to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. We ended up at Emerald Loop and we really enjoyed it. We both had a mimosa and split a burger and nachos. Perfect start to the day.
After our lunch we headed towards Magnificent Mile to look around at all the pretty stores. Well, first we made another stop at Argo for some coffee. Us girls love our coffee! I think we were honestly a little "shopped out" from the day before. I can't believe that is even possible, but I think we were. We ended up not going in any other stores except for Lush. We ended up being in there for about an hour. We just wanted to look around but the girls wanted to try every single product out on us! They were super sweet and very informative, but by the end we were getting short on time, and not to mention I felt that we were exfoliated and moisturized from head to toe! So we made our purchases and headed out for our sight seeing.
We started walking towards the lake to go check out Navy Pier. I didn't get any good pictures, but it was so pretty around the lake! We weren't at Navy Pier for very long, it was very busy.
After Navy Pier we headed to find "the bean". On the way we had to make a quick band-aid stop at Walgreens. My toes were rubbing and feet were hurting. We had a good laugh after I made the purchase and opened a band-aid only to realize I bought bandages about the size of my foot for my baby toe. I made it work though, kind of.
We found The Cloud Gate and snapped a couple pictures.
Then we headed for Buckingham Fountain. I think this is where the start of the marathon was because there was a lot of block offs and gates around here. We did get 1 photo though.
At this point it was about time to head to the train. We had a sweet tooth so we hit up Garrett popcorn on the way to Union Station. We had passed it a couple of times and saw several people with is so we thought we'd try it out. Kristal got the caramel with almonds and I got the caramel with pecans. It was very tasty! I was hoping for some popcorn with chocolate but it definitely satisfied my sweet tooth.
We headed to the train and met Kristal's in-laws for a slice of Chicago pizza at Giordano's in Naperville. It was so good, we enjoyed a crisp Angry Orchard with our pizza too. I've always heard about Chicago pizza, it's well worth it!
We had such a great time in Chicago, I can't wait to return soon. We have already said we will return for another trip for sure! You can read about day 1 here.
I was excited to get home to my love too, I always miss him so much when I am away from him for days.
I can barely keep my eyes open so I better get to sleep. Somebody has already beat me there...
What is your favorite trip you've ever taken?
