Chicago Trip: Part 1

Hi loves! Not sure if I've mentioned how much I love the city, but I LOVE the city. I have always had a love for tall buildings and that type of busy atmosphere. I had the BEST time in Chicago this past weekend with Kristal. It was just the girls trip we both needed. I definitely see more in our future!

Warning- Long post ahead. I warned you.

We arrived to Chicago Friday night about 9:30pm. We stayed with Kristal's in-laws in Bolingbrook and took the train from Naperville each day. Naperville is an adorable town by the way. Her family was so sweet and made our weekend even more enjoyable. They made us feel right at home.

Saturday morning we got up and headed to the train station to catch the 9:30am train. As soon as we stepped out of Union station once we arrived in Chicago we were so excited to start exploring! I was immediately in love.

We took off from the station down Jackson street. Our first stop was The Skydeck but being an hour and a half wait we decided to move on. We just started exploring the streets and being in awe of all the amazing buildings and sights.

Have I mentioned I love the city?

We didn't really have a plan for our day besides our dinner reservations, but being 2 girls in a big city I'll give you one guess what we ended up doing..... Shopping! We started to make our way through several stores and then decided we needed to eat to fuel up for our shopping fun. We wanted to find cafe type food so we stumbled across this place and it did not disappoint!

After our lunch we were back off for more shopping. I am working on a Chicago Shopping Haul post so I won't tell you what all I bought, but here is a little sneak

I'm kind of in love with these Toms

After H&M, Target, Sephora, some Argo coffee, Old Navy, Macy's, 2 Nordstroms trips, Urban Outfitters and I can't even remember where else, it was time to head to our dinner reservations at RPM Italian.

We were so happy to be here! Being the big Giuliana & Bill fans we are, we were hoping to catch a glimpse of them or Mama DePandi, but due to us Twitter stalking them, we knew they were out of town. Yeah, we creep on them. We enjoyed the restaurant and the food though, it was very good.

We started with a glass of Moscato d'Asti and the Charred Pepperoni Pizza. Then we split the Truffled Garlic Bread, Mama DePandi's Bucatini and the Prime Beef Meatballs. Their servings are small, made for your table to share different items. Then, because you have to have dessert on vacation, we got the special dessert of the night. I am not even going to try to tell you the name. Basically fried donuts, dusted with sugar and a whipped Nutella heaven in your mouth spread. YUM.

Don't you worry though, we more than worked all that food off asap. The whole day was chill and relaxed until after dinner and we knew we had to make the 8:40pm train or we'd have to wait 2 more hours for the next one. My feet were dead at this point too, done for. It was on. We walked then ran 35,879 blocks from RPM to Union station. Ok, maybe not that far... but we seriously barely made it. I would pay huge amounts of money to have a video of us in the final minutes before we made it to the station, and when we busted onto the train that was so quiet you could hear a pin drop and they were all staring at us. Between the walking, running and ab hurting laughing we had done, all that pasta was burnt off. Gone.

Well, there is my recap of day 1 in Chicago. We seriously had the best time! I'm working on day 2 so make sure you come back for that.

Do you love the city or the country?
