2 Moisturizers and a Lack of Motivation

Hello loves! You all know I have been trying to find the right moisturizer for my oily skin. I am really loving the Philosophy Take a Deep Breath moisturizer, but in my quest I also tried out some others so I thought I would share my thoughts on them with you.

Ok, so above are 2 that I tested out for a little while. When I went into Sephora to get a sample of the Philosophy that lady recommended these as well. Below are my opinions and what I thought after trying them out for a period of time....

1- Shiseido Pureness Matifying Moisturizer 1.6 oz for $33.50 at Sephora
I really loved this moisturizer. It's different, not your average moisturizer. Which I feel like it almost has to be for someone who has oily skin. An average moisturizer is a thicker consistency, this one is almost a liquid type consistency. It's very hydrating to your skin, it just kind of sinks in immediately. Doesn't leave your face feeling greasy at all. Most importantly I definitely did not feel as though my face was any more oily throughout the day. No, I don't really feel that it makes my face less oily but my goal was just to find one I could use that didn't make it more oily. I wasn't using moisturizer in the mornings for a long time for that reason.
Would I recommend/repurchase this item?
Yes. This is just my opinion, as you know I always recommend trying a sample before making a high end purchase. I give it a thumbs up though :)

2- Murad Oil Control Mattifier 1.7 oz for $39.50 at Sephora
I was surprised at how much I hated this product. While reading the reviews, it seems like most everybody loved it! Not me. All I can really say about this product is I felt like I was putting Elmers glue on my face. It was super thick, not hydrating/moisturizing and it stinks. Bummer, not a fan....
Would I recommend/repurchase this item?
No, but as I stated above, it seems a lot of people love this product so if you are curious about it I would get a sample and try it out. It's just NOT for me.

I hope you find these reviews helpful if you are in the market for a new moisturizer!

Onto another subject, my recent lack of motivation. I've really been wondering if everyone goes through periods where they have no motivation like I do. It's in all areas: getting ready in the mornings, meal planning/grocery shopping, workouts, eating healthy, blogging, working, household chores, etc. I have no idea why, but once every couple months it hits me, and I hate it. It's so not me. How do you get out of the rut, and why does it exist?

I have decided that I am going to do my very best in all areas in the month of August, pull myself out of this slump and regain my motivation. I am committing myself to all my workout classes, 4 a week, and eating healthy #1. I feel so much better when I am eating right and sticking to my workouts. I've been doing ok with my workouts but not doing as good as I'd like with eating habits. I'm trying to be better at meal planning, planning healthy meals and sticking to them. It makes such a difference in the way we feel.

#2 I am making lists of everything I need to get done each week and knock them out, not sweep them under the rug because I'm feeling lazy.

I just feel like I want to ROCK the month of August. I have a lot to look forward to in the next month and it's going to be a hectic month that is going to fly by, but I want to make it a good one!

Ok, thanks for letting me share that. I need an accountability partner so putting it out there kind of helps me out a little... I'll keep you posted on how my "rocking the month of August" is going.

Thanks for reading,
Mia

  1. You are so not alone in your lack of motivation! I'm really trying to find mine and get into a good groove. I have been SO lazy with workouts and I just don't feel good. So, my goal is to find a good routine of working out, while maintaining the household and preparing for the start of our homeschool year. I think part of my lack of motivation stems from feeling like I can't get caught up or where I want to be...so the answer to that is to dig in and get it done. Here's to August! :)

    1. I am glad to hear I am not alone. It is so hard to find a balance with everything, that is kind of my goal too. And I don't even have babies yet haha. We got this ;)

  2. First of all, thanks for the tip on the moisturizers! I have a super oily face (sexy, right?) and I get frustrated with moisturizers that cause my skin to be a shiny, grease ball by 2pm - not fun! Does Shiseido have SPF in it? And second of all, I'm feeling you with the motivation thing. I know where my issues lie but I have made it a pact to cut out excess alcohol consumption, processed foods and late nights so I can get my body back into shape!

    1. You're welcome! I am right there with you girl with the sexy oily face ;) I hate having oily skin. It does not look like that one has SPF in it. I am about to test out a Sephora brand moisturizer that is supposed to be for oily skin and has SPF, so I will definitely keep you posted on that one.

I am glad to hear I am not alone. I agree, I know where my issues are too that is why I get upset with myself because I continue to do it... Mine is sweet stuff, I am really going to try to work on that next month on top of my other goals to make myself feel my absolute best! Good luck to you, I hope we all feel healthier and motivated soon :)
