My Faves: Everyday face makeup

Wow it's hot! Summer has officially hit and I am not sure if I'm ready for it.
I like summer, when I'm in a pool or on the beach. I don't love running errands and feeling like I need another shower. So give me a pool and a drink and I'll be happy!

Today I'm going to talk about some of my favorite everyday face products I use when getting ready. This will include foundation, powders, primers, concealers, brushes and setting sprays. I have oily skin and I like a full coverage makeup, so I usually go for products targeted towards that. So let's get started!

1- Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1, about $9
This foundation claims to have the long lasting power of primer, coverage of a concealer and blendability of a foundation all in one. I do have to agree. I bought this stuff because I heard it was a dupe for Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet +. I didn't know what to expect but I have to say it is my current fave! I have really oily skin and this foundation looks great all day and has great coverage!
2- Revlon Colorstay Whipped 24 hrs, about $11
I love this foundation as well. I will say I like this more in the colder months, it's a pretty heavy foundation. When you need a full coverage makeup that is going to stay put for a long time, here's the one! This foundation looks exactly the same after a full day, something I appreciate for sure.
3- (High end splurge) Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet +, $36
Just like I said, high end splurge. I really LOVE this makeup. I don't use it everyday though, but I wanted to add my fave high end one as well. This foundation gives you a flawless, matte finish that is perfect for an oily girl like myself ;)
4- Best Foundation Brush EVER, Sigma Flat Kabuki F80, $18
This brush perfectly applies and blends your foundation, I can't say enough good things about it. The cost is great for such a high quality product.

Concealer (under eye)

1- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles, about $8
I enjoy this concealer because of the non mess "puff" applicator on top of it. Quick swipe and it's done. I think it does a good job of covering those dark circles I have most mornings. I am not a morning person...
2-Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Eye Concealer, about $10
I like this concealer because of it's creamy texture and it never creases on me which I appreciate! I hear it is being discontinued though, not sure if that's true...
3- bareMinerals Eye Brightener Concealer in "Well Rested", $18
I use this to set my under eye concealer as an extra little boost for brighter eyes and a bit more coverage.

Benefit The POREfessional, $30
This stuff is also a high end splurge but for someone with massively huge big pores like me it is worth every penny. I am not a primer fan. Primer + oily skin just don't mix. BUT....this one gives your skin a matte look and it seriously does shrink your pores, like right in front of your eyes, like magic! I'm all about it....

But, I have recently discovered this one that I am kind of thinking is going to take its place.
NYX Pore Filler, $12.99
The verdict is still out, but this stuff seems to be pretty much the exact same stuff as the Benefit POREfessional. I do love my Benefit though...

Face Powders

Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder, about $5
This stuff rocks! Nothing compares so far in my book. Love it! A cheap price tag sweetens the deal for me too...
Elf Flat Kabuki, $6
Best powder applicator, cost and finish are perfect. Elf makes some pretty great products if you ask me. Which leads me to this powder:

Elf Studio HD Powder, $6
I put this on after my foundation and before my face powder and just on my T zone. This stuff is supposed to help control some of your shine throughout the day, I use it everyday without fail and I love it.

And last but not least, my holy grail product that I don't want to remember what life was like without it.... This bad boy!
Urban Decay De Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray, $14 or $29 (depends on size)
I spray this on my face after I've completed my foundation, powders and blush. Some people spray it on before they do their makeup and after, I haven't tried that though, just after. Everyone asks me why my makeup always looks the same all day, this is my trick I guess. It works, and it works well my friend.

I hope you enjoy my face faves, I sure do!

One more tip:

You'll thank me, I promise.
My friend Jen introduced it to us today, safe to say I'm hooked. It will help cool you down on these hot summer days, totally justifiable.

Thanks for reading,

  1. I'm seriously going to have to try the De Slick stuff. Your makeup always looks amazing! ice cream ever.

  2. Yes, It's a good one if you want to keep your makeup on all day! Sephora :)

  3. Mia, I'm so proud of you, this is a great blog. You love makeup and you have always been very good at it. You are the perfect person to give makeup advise! I'm with Jenn, I have to try De Slick. And you haven't told me about it why?? Anyway, this looks great, have fun my dear. Mom

  4. Ooh I used to use MUFE Mat Velvet all the time before I ran out. How does the Covergirl compare in terms of longevity and mattifying? My issue with drugstore foundations is the lack of shades. : (

    1. Honestly I just said the other day I'm almost starting to like the Covergirl one better. (Can't believe the words came out of my mouth) it lasts all day for sure and is a perfect mattifying and flawless finish. Paired with that Sigma brush and a nice matte powder to set it, it's become my fave face look!

I honestly don't have an issue with color selection, I'm pretty pale skinned haha. But I know a lot of places are great with exchanges if you keep your receipt. With the low cost of the Covergirl it's definitely worth a try!

Thank you so much for stopping by, I love reading your comments! I reply to all of you, but if you're a "no-reply" blogger I can't. Email me if you have questions :)
