My Faves: Cheeks!

It's the weekend again and boy was I ready for it! I'm blogging tonight on my new MacBook Pro and I have to say I am loving it so far. I knew I would, but for some odd reason I was nervous to make the change. I have an iPhone, iPad and an iPod so I've been on the Apple train for some time, but still I was nervous. I am glad I did it though, my old dinosaur of a computer was not cutting it anymore. I found myself yelling at it nightly and the fact that I felt like I needed a bottle glass of wine after each blog session was a clear sign it was time for an upgrade. Don't worry, I didn't drink after each post, just felt the need to!

I'm pretty excited about this posting, I love blush and highlighters. It's kind of my weakness. Here, have a basket full of cheek products!

Ok but really, I broke it up into 3 categories for you, let's start with bronzers.

1- e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzer in St Lucia This stuff is $3 at Target and I love it. Both colors have a sparkle to them, but not overpowering. By sparkle I mean wear this on a day you want some glitter on your face. You really can't go wrong with this stuff though, e.l.f for the win!
2- LORAC TANtalizer Baked Bronzer Mini $7 at Sephora This bronzer has a pretty deep gold tone and shimmer to it. I can't use this very often, I am a pale skinned girl. I wish I had tan skin, heck I just wish I could get a tan period. I get red, does that count? This is a great at the beach bronzer, and I love to dust some over my chest and arms after I've applied a bronze glow lotion. Moral of the story, take this stuff to the beach with you :)
3- Benefit Hoola Bronzer I got this in a little Benefit value pack I got from Ulta recently. I was excited to try it because everyone raves about it. This is THE bronzer to have in your collection for contouring your face, it's perfect for that. It's matte and blends beautifully and won't make your skin look muddy. Anyone have any good tips or tools for contouring, I still feel like I struggle with it a little. I feel like this kind of goes back to my pale white skin though. Darn those Kardashian beauties....

1- Benefit High Beam I got this in a benefit value pack as well. I am a big fan of those, I like to try numerous products out for a cheaper price. This is a pink tone liquid illuminator. I have finally kind of got the hang of these liquid illuminators recently. I use this after my foundation and before my powder. If I use it after my powder it just wipes my powder away. These are great to use for a quick highlight and I find they have great lasting power.
2- NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam This one is a bronze tone, better for darker skin. They also make this is a pink color that I hear is a good dupe for the High Beam. They were sold out so I could only try the gold one.

Highlighters make me so happy <3 ahhhh. I am obsessed with them all! (The Mary-Lou Manizer is extra amazing though)
1- NARS Blush in Satellite of Love from Sephora This is actually a blush, but it's a highlighter to me.
2- The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer you can buy this here The Balm or here Nordstrom This is a sample size I got in an monthly subscription box but I will 100% be buying the full size when I run out.
3- MAC Powder blush in Honour Again a blush, but a highlight to me. Beautiful color, kind of heavy glitter though.
4- Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Luminizer in Light Beam This has a very light pink tone to it, beautiful! Pretty shimmery but not real glittery. Just an FYI, the lady at Sephora told me the other shade they carry of this, Stardust, is a dupe for NARS Albatross. That is a good one for you tan skin ladies!

Blushes, also my fave! These are some of the ones I own that I reach for most often.
1- Rimmel in Autumn Catwalk (drugstore) This one is awesome because those 3 different shades blend together to make 1 perfect color. It's a perfect peachy pink with a beautiful shimmery pale pink to top it off. Ah, I just LOVE this blush.
2- MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty I bought this recently and have quickly fallen in love. I love the light shimmer it has to it. Those mineralize blushes get me every time...
3- e.l.f. blush in Twinkle Pink Another great $3 Target purchase. Can you tell the color of blushes I prefer?? Peachy pinks rock!
4- Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour blush in Glisten from Sephora These blushes, well the whole Amazonian line are great. They really do last you all day! This one isn't super pigmented to me though, you just have to use a little more product for more payoff.

Last, I wanted to share this little gem. It's a great buy, good color variety and great pigmented blushes. I think this is a good purchase for someone who doesn't own a lot of blush and wants to add to their collection and experiment a little but not spend a lot of money.
This is the Coastal Scents 10BlushPalette from Coastal Scents it's only $12.95 and worth every penny!

Ok, it's 1 am and I am tired, off to bed I go. Extremely excited that I get to have a non interrupted sleep in session in the morning. Not setting an alarm makes me happy.

Thanks for reading,

  1. Well, you no makeup guru, so forgive my question. What's the difference between a bronzer and a highlighter? I've really been wanting a bronzer/blush combo. Is there too much glitter in the one you mentioned to wear daily?

    1. Also, clearly I meant know, not no.

    2. That's a good question :) A bronzer is used to either bronze your face all over or contour (define) your cheek bones and along the edges of your face, like your jaw line, and even down your nose to slim your nose. A highlight is used to highlight the parts of your face that the light hits, to make it pop. When you're standing in the bathroom looking at the mirror, pay attention to the spots on your face the light is hitting, that is where you highlight. On your forehead between your brows, on the tops of your cheekbones, down your nose, above your lip. It's amazing the difference it can make on a persons face!

    3. Oh and yes, I think that would be a great product for you to try out, its very pretty and only $3 :) Just make sure you have a brush for the blush and one for the bronzer.

  2. Hey, loved reading this post. I wish I could get those tarte blushes in england! I just found your blog, now following :)

    1. Hi, thanks for following me, I will go check your out and follow :) Oh man that stinks you can't get them over there!
